On leaving the Moody Blues, Denny Laine formed the Electric String Band in December 1966, with himself on guitar and vocals, Cliff Barton on bass, Viv Prince (ex-Pretty Things) on drums, and a cello/violin string quartet of ex-Royal Academy players.
Wainwright's Gentlemen were a fixture on the West London club and pub scene throughout 1964 and 1965. The tracks featured here were cut at Jackson Sound Studios in Rickmansworth in February 1965 with lan Gillan and Ann Cully on vocals.
