More info

Brian Auger's musical chops began attracting attention in 1962 where he cut his teeth on the live circuit playing jazz piano in East End clubs with Tubby Hayes. Three years later, he joined Long John Baldry and Rod Stewart before forging ahead with a psychedelic groove alongside Julie Driscoll and The Trinity and the iconic hit This Wheel's On Fire. Then came his aptly named, highly charged jazz-rock fusion group Oblivion Express, which attracted attention from American audiences and led to tours with artists at both ends of the sonic spectrum, from Herbie Hancock to ZZ Top. Auger also graced the airwaves throughout his early career with numerous sessions for the BBC which have survived as a captivating account of his career from The Trinity through to Oblivion Express.
